Rambler drops 180 bln rbl claim vs Twitch over league broadcast
MOSCOW, Dec 18 (PRIME) -- Russian media holding Rambler Group has signed an amicable agreement with U.S. streaming service Twitch and is dropping a 180-billion-ruble lawsuit against the service for broadcast of the English Premier League’s matches, Rambler said in a statement on Wednesday.
“The parties have agreed to hold talks to settle Rambler’s claims out of court. As a result of the talks, Rambler Group and video streaming service Twitch have signed an agreement to settle the argument,” the holding said.
“The agreement does not stipulate payment of any financial compensation, and Rambler Group is dropping the lawsuit. The parties are satisfied with the terms of the agreement. Besides, Twitch has provided Rambler Group with all necessary tools to fight against illegal broadcasting.”
Rambler Group, which owns exclusive rights to live broadcast of the English Premier League’s matches in Russia, filed a lawsuit against Twitch in August demanding that the service stop illegal broadcasting of sports video content in Russia and pay compensation for broadcasting of the league’s matches from August till November.
